Iron porch of Armstrong-Danna House (1868) at 2805 Carondelet St. at a corner of Washington Ave. in Central City. New Orleans, Louisiana

🎞️ #543-04

The image depicts an exterior view of the iron porch and facade of a historic house.

A large wooden door with six tall panes is centered within an arched opening in the facade. The door is flanked by narrow vertical windows on each side, topped with wide decorative cornices that run across both sides of the doorway. A short transom window above the door adds to its ornate design. Above the uppermost pane of glass in each of the two side windows are three intricate carvings resembling leaves. The front of the house features a single row of windows on the second floor, with a small balcony running along the length of the facade.

The entrance is flanked by an iron railing and topped with ornate scrollwork. Below this top section, the porch's ceiling extends down to just above the first-floor windows, supported by four slender columns that are connected at their base by heavy decorative brackets. These columns rest on a wide stone ledge. An iron balustrade runs along both sides of the porch, featuring small posts and intricate scrolls.

The exterior walls of the house have been painted green but display patches of bare stucco where paint has worn away. The overall style suggests that this is an Italianate-style residence, built in 1868.

– French translation
