Album 1689: Al Khor, Qatar, November 14, 2015
The image shows a close-up of a plant with small yellowish green fruit clusters growing from long stems on a bed of dry leaves and dirt.
The plant appears to be Bienertia sinuspersici, which is a succulent that grows in the sand dunes near the coast of Qatar. The small yellowish-green fruit clusters are likely developing seeds for reproduction.
Bienertia sinuspersici is also known as "sand dune plant" or "desert rose." It is a perennial plant that can grow up to 30 cm (12 inches) tall and has thick, fleshy leaves that store water. The plant produces small white flowers in the spring, which are followed by the development of fruit.
