Album 1998: Dibuny near Saint Petersburg, Russia, March 4, 2017

The image presents a close-up view of two bracket fungus mushrooms known as Red-Belt Conks (Fomitopsis pinicola) growing on the trunk of a birch tree in the area surrounding Saint Petersburg, Russia. The photograph was taken on March 4th, 2017.

In the foreground, two large, flat polypore mushrooms are prominently displayed. Their bright orange-brown caps feature a distinctive reddish stripe encircling them. Each cap is slightly irregularly shaped and has a smooth texture, with no visible hairs or spines. The caps' edges are rounded and slightly indented at their centers.

The mushroom caps have grown on the side of the birch tree trunk, which exhibits a rough bark texture that appears to be weathered. The white interior of the tree is visible between the dark cracks in the bark. A small sprig of wood has caught onto the top of one of the mushrooms.

The background of the image features a blurry view of snow-covered ground, suggesting that the photograph was taken during winter or early spring. Overall, the image provides a detailed and intimate look at these unique fungi growing on their natural habitat. – AI vision

Russian Description

– Russian translation
