Album 2016: Toksovo, Russia, April 5, 2017

The image depicts a close-up view of the underside of a dead spruce tree trunk, which is covered with numerous small mushrooms. The mushroom caps are flat and white, measuring approximately half an inch in diameter, and appear to be growing on top of each other. They form clusters or shelves along the bark of the tree.

The tree's bark is brownish-yellow, indicating that it has been dead for some time. The wood appears to have decayed from within, creating a cavity beneath the mushrooms. This suggests that the fungus is likely causing the wood to rot, breaking down cellulose and other organic materials in the process.

There are no visible signs of insects or animals present on the tree trunk. However, it's possible that some small creatures may be living among the mushroom clusters without being visible from this angle. – AI vision

Russian Description

– Russian translation
