Album 2213: College Station, Texas, December 10, 2017

The photograph shows an extreme close-up of several small orange-brown gelatinous structures growing on a darkened and weathered piece of wood that appears to be from an oak tree.

Several irregularly shaped blobs are scattered across the surface of the log. The blobs have wavy edges, indicating they are not rigid like fungi caps or insect exoskeletons. Some blobs appear more rounded while others are flatter with a wavy edge. They vary in size but most are less than 1/2 inch (13 mm) in diameter.

The texture of the log is rough and has small white spots on it, possibly lichenous growth. The background is not visible due to the extreme close-up nature of the image.

Based on the caption, the subject may be Dacrymyces capitatus.

– Spanish translation
