Red seeds of coral beans (Erythrina) on Little Lake Creek Loop Trail in Sam Houston National Forest. Richards, Texas
Album 2566: College Station - Sam Houston Forest, Texas, September 20 - 21, 2019
The image presents a close-up view of two vibrant red seeds nestled within an open seed pod, likely originating from a coral bean (Erythrina) plant.
The seed pods are characterized by their dry, brown color and intricate branching structure, which appears to be composed of multiple layers that have naturally split apart. The bright red seeds, each approximately one-third the size of an American quarter dollar coin, feature a smooth texture and resemble small eggs in shape. They occupy two distinct chambers within the seed pod.
In the top-left corner of the image, a blurred green object is visible, possibly another plant or part of the surrounding environment. The rest of the background is solid black, suggesting that the photograph was taken indoors under controlled lighting conditions.
Overall, the image showcases the unique appearance of coral bean seeds and their natural habitat within a seed pod.
– Spanish translation
