Spores (in lactophenol blue) of pink resupinate polypore mushroom Rigidoporus vinctus (Physisporinus vinctus)(?) from ... National Forest a day before. Texas, February 26, 2023

On February 25th, 2023, I discovered pink resupinate polypore mushrooms growing on a fallen elm tree in the Sam Houston National Forest, Caney Creek area of Texas. The next day, I collected spores from these mushrooms using lactophenol blue and took pictures of them. – generated by AI

The image shows spores of a pink resupinate polypore mushroom, Rigidoporus vinctus (Physisporinus vinctus) (?), against a white background. The spores are uniform, round and blue in color, appearing as small, evenly spaced circles, suggesting that the spores were stained with lactophenol blue to highlight their features.

The spore cells are arranged in a patterned formation, possibly reflecting the order of the spores' formation or growth on the mushroom cap. The white background of the image is likely a microscope slide or petri dish used for examination and study. The overall appearance suggests that the image was taken under low magnification with a camera mounted to a microscope.

The inclusion of the date and location, "February 26, 2023" in Sam Houston National Forest, Texas, implies that this photograph was part of a scientific or educational endeavor focused on mycology (the study of fungi) and possibly related to the collection of mushroom specimens for further research. – AI vision
