Perforated ruffle lichen (Parmotrema perforatum) on a fallen oak twig in Lick Creek ParkLick Creek: Background Notes. College Station, Texas
Album 2445: College Station, Texas, February 3, 2019
This image presents an up-close view of a lichen species, specifically the Perforated Ruffle Lichen (Parmotrema perforatum), growing on a fallen oak twig. The photograph is taken from directly above the lichen, providing an unobstructed view.
The lichen's leaves are light green with a ruffled edge and scattered holes, as indicated by its common name. It has dark brown apothecia (fruiting bodies) that protrude through these openings.
In the background, the twig is visible on the right side of the image, while the remainder of the photo shows more lichen growing from the twig. The surface below the twig appears to be a piece of wood or bark, which may be part of another fallen tree branch or stump.
The overall appearance suggests that this image was captured in a forest environment, possibly near College Station, Texas, where Lick Creek Park is located. – AI vision
