Album 3060: College Station, Texas, November 15 - 16, 2021

The image shows the underside of several white-cream colored Wood Blewit mushrooms (Lepista nuda), which have been laid out on a sandy forest floor path. The mushroom caps are flat and wide with a delicate white cream gill structure. They appear to be in various stages of development, as some are beginning to close up while others remain open.

The gills are long and thin, spaced closely together, and radiate from the stem. There is no visible stem ring or volva on these mushrooms. The stems are short and thick, white-cream colored, and slightly rough to the touch. They taper at the bottom where they join with a small ball of mycelium.

The leaves around the mushroom caps are brown and decaying. Brown leaves have fallen from nearby trees onto the path, some of which appear to have been nibbled by insects or other small animals. The leaves and twigs on the forest floor create a warm, earthy tone in the image.

There is nothing else visible in the photo except for more mushrooms that are not fully shown.

The overall impression given by this photo is one of abundance. There appear to be many mushrooms scattered across the path, indicating that the area has produced a large number of them recently. The fact that they are all laid out on top of each other suggests that they may have been picked up and arranged in this way for some reason.

– Spanish translation
